When Ingrid Jasmin’s debut single Pilgrim dropped in 2021, listeners met an artist quite unlike anything else on the Norwegian music scene.

 

Now the artist, who is chosen for the showcase festival Vill Vill Vest this year, drops her second single, Rumor. The music video, which is directed by Elisa Bates, will also be released on 26 August.

 

- Rumor is an abstract love story. The song is about being free - to love, and to live freely, says Ingrid Jasmin.

 

- We wanted the video to show how fragile freedom is.

 

A unique collaboration - and a garden recording

 

Ingrid Jasmin is joined by the acclaimed musicians Mathias Eick on trumpet and Sidiki Camara on ngoni. The recordings were done in SAGA Studio, and in Sidiki Camara's garden.

 

- We liked the authentic sound of the garden, and the birds in the background reflect the lyrics. In many ways, they symbolize what the song is about.

 

The song draws on the flamenco style guajiras, partly originating in Cuba, where the artist lived for a longer period.

 

- My time in Cuba has been important to who I am as an artist, says Ingrid Jasmin.

 

Later this autumn she will drop her first album. The release concert will be played at this year's Oslo World.

 

Rumor is produced by Ingrid Jasmin, Jonas Kroon and Morten Gillebo. Eiolf Seglem Ødegård contributes on keys, Yannick Corre on percussions, and Almir Meskovic in production. The song is mixed by Jonas Kroon and mastered by George Tanderø.
